Great Resource for the Sandwich Generation Issues of Long Distance Caring for Elderly Parents and Grandparenting

As a member of both the Baby Boomers Generation and the Sandwich Generation caring for elderly parents and grandparenting, I am blessed to have many of my loved ones nearby. I am a Granny Nanny to half my granchildren and have fun researching and exploring a wide variety of activities for grandparents and grandchildren. My senior mom lives with me, which makes life a bit simpler for both of us. She, too, has fun playing with so many of her great-grandkids living nearby, though for shorter time periods than me

In addition, we both have elderly relatives and grandchildren who live all around the U.S. which means plenty of long distance senior care and grandparenting. That can definitely be time-consuming and expensive.

I am always on the lookout for interesting and fun ways ideas for grandparents to stay in touch and close to grandchildren when living far away. Free is my favorite, but not always an option, especially when it comes to mailing packages.

I also try to find ways to encourage senior parents who don't live nearby - both when they are healthy and also when they are sick.

I have a wide variety of "tools" in my Sandwich Generation toolbox, and the Amazon Prime Discount Membership is one of my best tools. I don't even have to pay for the boxes! If it's a real emergency, I can pay an extra $3.99 and get it there the next day.

When a daughter's family was all sick with the flu and they were running low on diapers but didn't feel up to going shopping, I was able to ship them Huggies for the same as I would have paid at a local store and only paid $3.99 to get it there the next day.

When one of my long distance relatives got a bad bug at the holidays and had to cancel travel plans, I was able to encourage him with books he loved and they were there before he got home from the hospital.

When I am looking for creative ideas for grandparents to stay in touch and close to grandchildren when living far away, I'll find out what they are studying. Then, with the help of my Amazon Prime Membership, I can send them books all about it and they get there fast with no shipping or handling charges.

I stay so busy, it's easy for me to get behind on my shopping for birthdays and holidays. But Amazon and their Prime Membership always have my back. If I don't want to send a gift card, I can just order a product that qualifies and it's there in a flash. I can't tell you how many times I've used that at the last minute and still been on time. :)
